Thoughtfully Selected Ingredients, Clearly Explained

Every ingredient in an Appalachian Shroomery product has a purpose. Some provide fruiting-body mushroom compounds, while others contribute flavor, texture, fiber or a smoother drinking experience.

We believe customers should be able to understand what is in their products without sorting through exaggerated promises or complicated scientific language. This library offers a straightforward introduction to the ingredients we use and why we chose them.

Formulas vary by product. Always refer to the ingredient list on the individual product page or package for the exact contents.

Our Fruiting-Body Mushroom Extracts

Lion’s Mane

Lion’s Mane is an unmistakable white mushroom with long, cascading spines. It has become especially popular among people looking to support focus, clarity and a productive daily routine.

Our Lion’s Mane is made from the mushroom’s fruiting body rather than mycelium grown on grain. Hot-water extraction helps release naturally occurring water-soluble mushroom compounds, including beta-glucans, before the extract is dried into a convenient powder.

Cordyceps

Cordyceps has a long history of use among people seeking natural support for energy, stamina and an active lifestyle. Unlike stimulants, Cordyceps does not contain caffeine. This makes it a natural companion to Lion’s Mane in our coffee and Focus + Energy blend.

We use fruiting-body Cordyceps extract without myceliated grain or grain-based fillers.

Reishi

Reishi is known for its glossy, reddish-brown fruiting body and its long history of traditional use. It is commonly included in everyday wellness routines centered on balance, rest and resilience.

Because Reishi has a naturally earthy and somewhat bitter character, extraction provides a practical way to incorporate it into blended products. Our Reishi is a hot-water-extracted fruiting-body powder with no myceliated grain fillers.

Turkey Tail

Turkey Tail grows in layered, fan-shaped clusters with naturally occurring bands of brown, cream, gray and blue. It is especially valued by customers interested in mushrooms and digestive wellness.

Like other mushrooms, Turkey Tail naturally contains beta-glucans and additional polysaccharides. We use a fruiting-body extract without myceliated grain or grain-based fillers.

The Supporting Ingredients in Our Coffee

Instant Coffee

Coffee provides the familiar foundation of our Craft Mushroom Coffee. We chose instant coffee because it creates a smooth, convenient cup without brewing equipment, filters or coffee grounds.

It also makes the blend easy to prepare consistently: add a tablespoon to hot water, stir well and enjoy. Our Decaf Craft Mushroom Coffee offers the same convenience for customers who prefer less caffeine.

MCT Oil Powder

MCT stands for medium-chain triglycerides, a type of fat commonly derived from coconut. Turning MCT oil into a powder makes it easier to blend evenly into dry products and hot beverages.

In our coffee, MCT powder contributes body and a smooth, rounded mouthfeel. We believe it is one of the reasons customers frequently tell us that our mushroom coffee tastes smoother than they expected.

Chicory Root Inulin

Inulin is a soluble prebiotic fiber naturally found in chicory root and many other plants. Prebiotic fiber serves as nourishment for beneficial microorganisms already living in the digestive system.

In our coffee blend, chicory root inulin also contributes body without introducing a strong flavor. We use it in a supporting role rather than adding a large quantity simply to make the ingredient list look impressive.

Cacao

Cacao gives the blend subtle depth and helps complement the naturally earthy character of the mushroom extracts. It is not included to make the coffee taste like hot chocolate; instead, it contributes a mild roasted richness that works alongside the coffee.

Cacao naturally contains plant compounds known as polyphenols, along with small amounts of naturally occurring minerals. Its primary role in our formula is creating a deeper, more balanced flavor.

Beet Powder

Beets provide natural color and a mild earthy sweetness. They also contain naturally occurring pigments called betalains.

We use beet powder in a modest amount so it supports the blend without making the coffee taste like beets. It is one of several ingredients working quietly in the background to create the finished cup.

Lucuma

Lucuma is a fruit native to South America that is commonly dried and milled into powder. It has a gentle flavor often described as lightly sweet, creamy or caramel-like.

In our mushroom coffee, lucuma helps soften sharper flavor notes and contributes to a more rounded taste without making the finished drink noticeably sweet.

Mesquite Powder

Mesquite powder is made from the pods of the mesquite tree. It has a naturally mellow flavor with subtle nutty and caramel-like qualities.

A small amount helps bring together the coffee, cacao and earthier mushroom extracts. Mesquite also naturally contains fiber, but we primarily selected it for the balance and complexity it adds to the flavor.

Why the Complete Blend Matters

Our Craft Mushroom Coffee was not created by simply adding mushroom powder to instant coffee. Each supporting ingredient was tested as part of the complete formula.

The coffee provides the familiar foundation. Cacao, lucuma and mesquite create depth and balance. MCT powder contributes smoothness and body. Chicory root inulin adds soluble fiber and further improves the texture. Beet powder adds another subtle plant-based component. The fruiting-body mushroom extracts complete the blend.

No single supporting ingredient is intended to dominate the cup. They work together to produce the rich, smooth taste our customers notice—often before they know what is inside it.

Straightforward Ingredients. Purposeful Formulas.

We do not add ingredients merely to lengthen the label or follow a trend. Everything must earn its place through its contribution to the formula, the preparation experience or the finished flavor.
